Packet Power’s Smart Power Cable is a true plug-and-play installation.

  1. Simply unplug the device you wish to monitor.

  2. Plug the device into the Smart Power Cable’s connector.

  3. Then, plug the Smart Power Cable into the power source.

The LED display will show some start up information and then display readings for volts, amps, and power. The Smart Power Cable will automatically join the wireless mesh network and monitoring data will begin to flow to the Ethernet Gateway. No configuration is required.

Use the 16-digit ID number on the label of the Smart Power Cable to determine which readings are from this cable.

What Can the Smart Power Cable Do?

Smart Power Cables accurately capture energy information in real time. The data can be accessed with any BMS or DCIM application that supports open protocols like EtherNet/IP, Modbus, MTConnect or SNMP. Their simple "plug and play" installation means no electricians are needed.

The cables are available in single- and three-phase configurations and can handle voltages from 100 to 480V and amperages from 10 to 100A.

Smart Power Cables Make Power Monitoring Easy

Packet Power’s Smart Power Cables were initially designed as a cost-effective solution for monitoring power distribution units (PDU) in data centers. However, they can work anywhere with any device that has a plug. The cables work on the same secure wireless technology that all Packet Power devices operate with. Fujitsu uses these Smart Power Cables for its data center in London and saw monitoring costs reduced by 35%.
